FRANKLIN COUNTY, Pa. — A Franklin County man is facing a slew of charges including terroristic threats for allegedly pouring gasoline inside an apartment and threatening to light it on fire.
According to the Chambersburg Police Department, on June 20 at 12:33 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Hollywell Ave. for what was initially reported as a disturbance.
At the scene, the victim alleged that Rayvon McLaughlin, 50, poured gasoline inside their apartment and threatened to burn it down. The victim was able to stop McLaughlin from setting the apartment on fire before he fled from the home.
Officers found that gasoline had been spilled inside the apartment. The Chambersburg Fire Department (CFD) was asked to help at the scene due to the risk of fire or explosion.
CFD arrived and determined that the gasoline fumes were extremely concentrated and that the connecting apartments needed to be evacuated.
Four apartments were evacuated until the fumes dissipated.
While officers were at the scene investigating, McLaughlin returned to the home and was immediately arrested. He has been transported to the Franklin County Jail to await his arraignment for charges of risking a catastrophe, terroristic threats and simple assault (domestic violence.)
