NEW FRANKLIN, Pa. — One person was seriously injured after being trapped inside a silo at a Franklin County farm Tuesday night, according to rescue personnel.
The victim was stuck in a sweeping auger, which is used to clear material from the bottom of a silo, at a farm on Newcomer Road in Guilford Township, according to the New Franklin Volunteer Fire Department.
The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m., the fire company said.
Rescue personnel freed the injured victim by cutting through the auger's framework. They quickly applied a tourniquet to the victim's injury.
After being extracted from the silo, the victim was flown to an area trauma center for treatment, the fire department said.
There was no additional information on the patient's condition.
