On Friday, Oct. 4, over 80 daring participants braved a 200-foot rappel down the face of a Harrisburg building all for a great cause.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region (BBBSCR) hosted a rooftop rappelling adventure fundraiser with Over The Edge. The bravery paid off as organizers announced on Thursday, Oct. 17 the grand total raised.

"We soared past our goal this year, and the timing could not have been any better; our services increased 53% over the last year, and we are extending our reach into two counties. We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, participants, donors and volunteers who helped us raise $86,782, with donations still coming in, and filled every available rappel spot,” shared Mary Murphy, BBBSCR VP of Development.

The event brought the community together, strengthening the network of support for over 1,000 young people across the organization's seven-county service area. The funds specifically benefit one-on-one youth mentoring programs throughout central Pa.

Event organizers expect the $86,000 mark to only increase over the next month as donations continue to come in.
