YORK COUNTY, Pa. — There's a new way to give to hundreds of local non-profits in York County.
Give Local York officials announced the launch of a new website that will allow donations all year round.
Leaders with the huge giving event gathered Monday in York to celebrate the GLY365 website. They say it's important to expand efforts to help the non-profits that benefit from them.
"We see such amazing generosity and kindness and excitement every year for 24 hours one given day," said Meagan Given, the executive director of White Rose Leadership. "Our thinking was, 'Why can't we extend that feeling all year round?'"
The website is live now, however, people can't start donating until Giving Tuesday, on Nov. 28.
Meanwhile, the 24-hour Give Local York event is just 164 days away. In the six years since its founding, the event has raised over $20 million for over 400 local nonprofits from across the region, state, country and world.
The goal for 2024's event is to see 13,500 donors make a gift on May 2 and 3. In 2022, 12,752 individual donors donated during Give Local York.
