Gov. Shapiro orders U.S., Commonwealth flags at half-staff to honor fallen Philadelphia officer

All flags will fly at half-staff until sunset on the date of internment, which has not yet been announced.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Governor Josh Shapiro has ordered all United States and Commonwealth flags at half-staff to honor a fallen police officer. 

All flags on Commonwealth facilities, public buildings and grounds will be at half-staff to honor Philadelphia police officer Richard Mendez, who died in the line of duty on Thursday, Oct. 12. 

The United States and Commonwealth flags will fly at half-staff until sunset on the date of internment, which has not yet been announced. 

All Pennsylvanians are invited to participate in this tribute.
