'Grandpop Bubbles' brings fun, free experience to Kipona Festival

A Phoenixville, Pa., man makes his own hand-made bubble juice to create giant life-sized bubbles at Kipona Festival.

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Adults and children of all ages were welcome at the "Free Bubble Festival" to join "Grandpop Bubbles" in making some of the most intricate and biggest bubbles to see.

Brian "Grandpop Bubbles" Maloney makes 150 gallons of his own hand-made bubble juice for festival-goers to experiment with.

From 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Kipona Festival in Harrisburg, an assortment of instruments such as bubble wands, tri strings (two sticks and strings), poles, basins and buckets were available for attendees to create bubbles with.

Eventgoers loved the activity and organizers say it highlights what Kipona Festival is all about.

"[The festival] is a great opportunity for small businesses, both those that have brick-and-mortars in the city and those that don't have a physical location but are just getting started, to promote themselves to the greater community," said Courtney Ranck-Cameron with the City of Harrisburg.

Grandpop Bubbles has been bringing his free bubble festival to Kipona for at least the last three years.

After the event, bubble makers could send their pictures to GrandpopBubbles@gmail.com or post them on his Facebook page for a chance to win a free bubble party. Each photo is a chance to win.
