HANOVER, Pa. — Hanover will be heating up this weekend.
It's time for the 28th annual Hanover Chili Cook Off, where contestants from across the area go head-to-head for two important causes: bragging rights and supporting local nonprofits.
"The color, the smell, of course the taste," Dan Richcreek, International Chili Society cook and judge, said, describing the ideal chili. "The longer it simmers, the better it'll get."
Guests don't have to cook to get in on the fun. There will be a pepper-eating contest to see who can handle the heat, a cornhole tournament, a dunk tank, a free kids' zone, and of course, samples of chili as far as the eye can see.
For those who aren't a fan of chili, food trucks and vendors will also be selling a variety of different treats and eats.
All cooks in the competition must be registered with the International Chili Society.
The contest is presented by The Exchange Club of Hanover and will take place at Moul Field, located at 151 Moul Ave. in Hanover, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sept. 1.
Tickets can be purchased online for $10 ahead of the event or bought at the door for $12. Parking information can be found here.
FOX43 Morning Meteorologist Andrea Michaels will be a judge at the competition.
