Hershey Bears make meals for Ronald McDonald families

The menu featured a Bears staple, giving families a taste of a typical Bears pre-game meal.

HERSHEY, Pa. — The Ronald McDonald House welcomed some special guests today.

Members from the Hershey Bears stopped by on Tuesday, April 9 to prepare meals for families. Bears defensemen Jack Massie and Chase Priskie took over the kitchen for the evening.

"Being able to come to the Ronald McDonald House and cook for people who might need a quick meal between visits," said Priskie. "If we can make someone's days a little bit easier, that was our goal today."

Both made over 50 meals. The menu featured a Bears staple, giving the families a taste of a typical Bears pre-game meal.

"Spaghetti and meatballs with house salad and a roll," explained Priskie. "It's pretty much what a pregame looks like for a lot of members on the team. We decided to give them a little taste of that and fuel them up."

As families got to pick up their meals, they also got to interact with the players. It's just another way to give back to the community that supports them on the ice.

"To see them here in person when they are used to seeing them on the ice is neat. [It's neat] for us to partner with them to offer this meal and help them give back to the community," said Ronald McDonald Development Director Amy Leonard.

Priskie and Massie both come from families of big-time cooks themselves, so it was a fun way to give back with an activity both enjoy.

"I grew up in and around food my whole life," said Priskie. "I've always cooked big meals around the house and I was spoiled growing up, so being able to pass that on is pretty fun."
