LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — This weekend in Lititz, aviation fans can experience a once in a lifetime opportunity—flying in a WWII warbird.
Lancaster Airport will be hosting its Lancaster Airshow this Saturday and Sunday. The event features both old and new planes, airshows and even plane rides.
Some of the planes that will be featured at the event include the C-47 Hairless Joe, Capital Wing TBM Avenger and Boeing PT-17 Stearman bi-plane.
But it’s not just about the warbirds. There are all sorts of planes and helicopters to check out, as well as witness the hard work of airshow performers.
Ultimately, organizers say it’s about bringing people together and inspiring kids and adults to explore the world of aviation.
“The best thing is when you just walk across the ramp and see the smile on the kids’ faces, it’s very touching and empowering to see that cause you know that you're touching someone’s heart in some way, shape or form," said Ed Foster, the executive director of Lancaster Airport.
“And it only takes one thing to change a path to make someone pick a career in aviation…There's a litany of things you can do in aviation. So just to touch someone and make them look into the aviation career is priceless.”
The Lancaster Airshow goes from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The actual airshow begins at noon and lasts until 2 p.m. both days.
There will also be pyrotechnics demonstrations this year.
General admission for the event is $20 for adults. Those 15 and under get in for free. Parking is free this year.
