YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Five people have been displaced after a house fire in York.
According to emergency dispatchers, firefighters were sent to a home on McAllister St. near Mt. Royal Ave. in Penn Township for a fire around 9:15 a.m. on March 12.
Tony Clousher, the Fire Chief with Hanover Area Fire & Rescue, said that a Penn Township police officer was in the area and reported the fire, which caused wires to fall into the street, and Met-Ed was needed to shut the power to the building off.
Clousher said that four people were home at the time of the fire, and one person is being treated for smoke inhalation.
The Chief says it was an accidental fire due to discarded smoking materials, and the blaze took over an hour to get under control and caused over $100,000 in damages.
Clousher noted the building may be condemned.
