House suffers heavy damage after fire in York County

Emergency crews were sent to a home in the 500 block of South Kralltown Road in Washington Township around 8:20 a.m. on May 1 for a report of a basement fire.

YORK COUNTY, Pa. — Firefighters from multiple departments were dispatched to the scene of a blaze Wednesday morning in Washington Township, York County.

According to emergency dispatch, fire crews were sent to a home in the 500 block of South Kralltown Road around 8:20 a.m. for a report of a basement fire. 

The fire spread to the home's first floor before firefighters were able to extinguish it.

The home was heavily damaged, but there was no immediate estimate. The cause of the fire is also still undetermined.

Wellsville Fire Company Chief Jeremy Stone said no one was injured. He added the occupants of the home were alerted by fire alarms and were able to escape.
