Hundreds of people come out for Kamala Harris campaign rally in Carlisle

The Harris for President team joined Governor Josh Shapiro to rally voters.

CARLISLE, Pa. — With 100 days until Election Day, Governor Josh Shapiro and Kamala Harris's campaign spent Saturday rallying voters in Cumberland County.

“We are now being called upon, again, to do this work," said Governor Shapiro.

On Saturday, the "Harris for President" team joined Governor Shapiro in Carlisle for a 'Weekend of Action' rally. The rally drew several hundred supporters to the Rendezvous Run Farm.

Aisha Mobley, who was in attendance at the rally, said she feels a renewed sense of enthusiasm after Vice President Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee.

“When President Biden told us he was stepping down, I went out on my porch and I was depressed," said Mobley. "But 20 minutes later, life changed to where we are now; there’s energy and enthusiasm.”

Governor Shapiro took the stage as the rally's keynote speaker. He said Vice President Harris has the track record to lead the country and to defeat former president Donald Trump in November.

“When she was Attorney General, she took on the big banks; she took on the big pharmaceutical companies," said Governor Shapiro. "And every fight she was in, she won.”

Governor Shapiro is reported to be a potential running mate for Harris. Several voters say they believe that Shapiro should join Vice President Harris on the ticket.

“He’s got the chops for it, and he’s shown he can get things done," said Rich Forsman. "On top of that, I think he’s a decent individual.”

FOX43 reached out to the Pennsylvania GOP and former President Trump’s campaign via email about Saturday's rally, but has not received a response.

Vice President Harris has received support from over a thousand delegates over the past two weeks. The Democratic presidential candidate will officially be nominated during the Democratic National Convention on August 19th.
