New Jersey man indicted by federal grand jury for producing child pornography in PA

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A New Jersey man was indicted by a Central Pennsylvania grand jury for producing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania said Wednesday.

Jose Colon, 50, of Bloomfield, is accused of communicating with multiple minor victims and enticing them to create and share sexually explicit images of themselves with him via cellphone.

The case is being investigated by the Department of Homeland Security and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Luisa Honora Berti.

The case is brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice. Its mission is to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood marshals fedearl, state and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
