PENNSYLVANIA, USA — Pheasant hunting in Pennsylvania does not officially begin until Oct. 26, but younger hunting enthusiasts will get to partake early.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission announced the opening of its 2024-25 Junior Pheasant Hunt season. These hunts are open to anyone age 16-year-old and younger as well as to all mentored hunters regardless of age.
Each year, the Pennsylvania Game Commission partners with sportsmen's groups in the state to give younger people more hunting experience. The organization provides more than 1,500 pheasants for these preseason hunts. This year, the Junior Pheasant Hunting season will run from Oct. 12-19 (2 daily, 6 in possession).
In order to participate, those interested must obtain a Junior Pheasant Hunting Permit. Permits are free, and can be found online or at licensed vendors.
Applications are due on Sept. 18.
