SCRANTON, Pa. — A church in Scranton held a luncheon fundraiser for a good cause on Sunday.
Wounded Ukrainian soldiers and volunteers spoke at the luncheon held at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church along North 7th Avenue.
The soldiers are currently rehabilitating at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Parishioners say the benefit means a lot to the church and those in Ukraine.
"It means a lot for the church, for the Ukrainian community as a whole, the nation, the soldiers. It means a lot that people still remember the war because there's a lot of news going around the world different conflicts but the war in Ukraine has not gotten any better," said Stanislauv Demochko, parishioner.
Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit a pediatric hospital in Eastern Ukraine.
