Lancaster City Restaurant Week starts Monday

Lancaster City Restaurant Week officially kicks off Monday, and local businesses are hungry to serve this week’s crowds.

LANCASTER, Pa. — It was a lively afternoon at The Coffin Bar in downtown Lancaster as staff prepared for the 10th annual Lancaster City Restaurant Week.

For assistant general manager Genevieve Glatfelter-Jones, it’s an opportunity to stand out.

“We’re just so happy and excited to be a part of it; we’re on a block with two very nice restaurants as well as everywhere else, and we’re really looking forward to be a part of it,” Glatfelter-Jones said.

The Coffin Bar opened its doors in October 2023.

Glatfelter-Jones says events like restaurant week help people get a taste of what Lancaster has to offer.

“I would just say just community, bringing people together, trying new things, experiences, just getting out there,” Glatfelter-Jones said.

For something more international, why not try Diyo Fusion?

“We know that the younger generation, they’re looking for something quicker and something healthier with more options so that’s what we’re trying to cater to or at least like a niche,” said co-owner Prana Chitrakar.

Chitrakar owns Diyo Fusion, a Nepalese restaurant, with her brother Mohan Pradhan.

Pradhan also owns Himalayan Curry & Grill, also in Lancaster.

She says her family has already formed a strong connection with the community since opening their doors late last year.

“We just got to meet so many different people and get so many exposures through media through influencers or just blogs or media outlets, so that does provide us with a lot of exposure and help us getting the word out,” Chitraka said.

Rendezvous Pizzeria and Steak Shop re-opened last December after closing in 2019.

“For us as a whole, we just love to eat food and we love to share our families’ recipes with everybody, so continuing to do so and making good food, making people happy is what we’re really proud to do here at the Rendezvous,” said Riley Kaminski, head chef.

Kaminski and his family have run the business for generations and are excited to re-introduce their product to the community.

“The culinary industry is inspirational as is, especially in Lancaster, we are a lot more fortunate than many people in other areas, being here and having so much diversity in our food and the fresh ingredients and it’s just an honor to be a part of that,” Kaminski said.

Rendezvous will sell its Panozzi sandwich for a limited time during restaurant week.

Diyo Fusion is also expected to introduce a limited menu.

The Coffin Bar will serve brunch.

Restaurant week ends March 10th.
