Lancaster County firework store gets business boom ahead of Fourth of July

Business is booming for fireworks stores across the state just ahead of Independence Day weekend.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — It’s that time of year again to stock up on all your fireworks needs.

Keystone Fireworks store manager, Mandi Parmer, says it’s all hands on deck at her store in Lancaster County.

“We definitely take our high volume of customers into account when we’re talking about our inventory, and we do place higher volumes of inventory orders around that time knowing that we’ll see our peak around the Fourth of July,” Parmer said.

Parmer’s store is expected to move tens of thousands of pieces of inventory leading up to the fourth.

She says she orders more this time of year to keep up with customer demand.

“Product is constantly moving out the door, so we have that constantly coming into our location as well.”

The store offers discounts and deals to keep customers coming back, including by-one-get-one deals; customers can also receive a gift with a purchase.

Earlier in the week, Parmer recalled a customer paying over $6,000 for fireworks.

Justin Mosher and his wife traveled from Virginia to take advantage of the savings.

When FOX43 asked the couple what they were willing to spend, Mosher replied, “Enough to have a good time on the Fourth of July with the kids, as far as having smaller fireworks and the larger ones for us as well,”

The store gets a lot of out-of-state customers this time of year.

“Other states have restrictive fireworks laws, Pa. is lucky enough to be able to sell to anyone," Parmer explained." "But, regardless of who you are, we do get your ID, so we cross our t’s and dot our i’s on the legal end of it.”

From firecrackers to shells, there’s no limit on what you can find, though Parmer says most customers have been turning their attention to mortars.

“They have a very big variety and that was very helpful,” Mosher said.

“They want to walk out of here with something awesome for either this weekend, for their Fourth of July time, or we’ve seen a lot of people who are celebrating next weekend as well,” Parmer added.

Store hours are from 8 a.m. to midnight, but are expected to change after the Fourth of July.
