AKRON, Pa. — A Lancaster County man has been charged with attempting to get an Iowa girl to send him pornographic photos and videos of herself, police said Wednesday.

Alexander Bootie, 24, of Akron, is charged with felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor, sexual abuse of children, and criminal use of a communication facility and a misdemeanor count of corruption of minors, according to West Earl Township Police.

He turned himself in to authorities on November 17, police said.

Police began investigating on March 29, when authorities in Iowa contacted them to report that a girl in Wright County had called, claiming that an Akron man was trying to get her to send sexually explicit photos and videos of her in exchange for Korblox Cash, which is used to purchase products within the online video game Roblox.

Police were able to identify Bootie as the suspect after recovering online conversations between him and the girl, which occurred on various social media and messaging platforms.

In the conversations, Bootie offers to purchase gaming related things for her in exchange for videos and photographs of the juvenile conducting sexual acts, police claim.

After turning himself in, Bootie was arraigned on the charges by Magisterial District Judge, Jonathan Heisse and released on $50,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled before Judge Tony S. Russell on December 1, according to court records.
