LANCASTER, Pa. — Lancaster Police have a suspect in custody after one person was injured in a stabbing in the city Thursday night.
Jonathan Matos, 43, is charged with one count of aggravated assault in the incident, which occurred around 8:26 p.m. in the city's Penn Square.
According to police, the victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury in the incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police reviewed surveillance footage provided by the Lancaster Safety Coalition to identify Matos as the suspect. The footage showed him yelling at passersby in an agitated state on the southwest corner of the square, according to police. When the victim approached him and attempted to speak to him, Matos is seen on-camera pulling out a knife and stabbing the victim in the chest, police said.
After the stabbing, the victim walked away and made it to a McDonald's restaurant on the 200 block of West King Street and contacted authorities.
Matos stayed in the area after the stabbing, and was located and taken into custody, according to police.
Police said he was found to be in possession of the knife used in the incident, which still had blood on the blade.
