QUARRYVILLE, Pa. — Police in Lancaster County have charged a Guatemalan man with two counts of child endangerment after two young children in his care were found wandering in the street unsupervised.

The incident occurred at 3:48 p.m. Monday in Quarryville, according to police.

The children, ages 3 and 5, were found on the 200 block of 4th Street, Quarryville Police said. An investigation determined they had been left home alone for an extended period of time before leaving the house on their own.

The children's uncle, Williams Mardoqueo Ico-Coc, a Guatemalan national whom police say was in the United States illegally, was babysitting the children when he decided to leave them alone at the home, according to police.

Ico-Coc was taken into custody on the endangerment charges. Quarryville Police also alerted Immigration and Customs Enforcement of his arrest, and a detainer on him has since been issued, police said.

A preliminary hearing on the child endangerment charges is scheduled for Monday, April 22, before the Honorable William R. Mankin II of Magisterial District Court 02-3-04 in Quarryville Borough.
