Bartender at Lancaster County VFW accused of stealing money, booze

Erica Mays, 38, is accused of stealing more than $2,000 from the register at the Mount Joy VFW, along with a bottle of whiskey, police said.

MOUNT JOY, Pa. — A Lancaster County woman is facing theft charges after police say she stole money and a bottle of liquor from the VFW Post where she worked as a bartender.

Erica Mays, 38, of Marietta, is charged with theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception, according to Mount Joy Borough Police.

She is accused of stealing more than $2,000 from the cash register of the VFW Post 5752 on Longenecker Road in Mount Joy while employed there. The thefts occurred over the span of about a month, between May 25 and June 24, police claim.

Mays also stole a $36 bottle of Crown Royal Peach Flavored Whiskey, according to police.

Authorities began investigating when a concerned citizen contacted authorities after learning of the alleged thefts. 

Mays is accused of stealing $2,036 in cash, police said.

A warrant for her arrest was issued this week.
