LANCASTER, Pa. — The Greystone Manor Therapeutic Riding Center held its first annual "Heart of Greystone Bingo" in Lancaster on Thursday to help fund efforts to bring more children into its equine therapy programs.
The center offers horseback riding programs for children with disabilities or special needs. The fundraiser was an effort to fund scholarships to widen the reach of its programs.
"We serve hundreds of students each year," said Stephanie Fleck, the program director of Greystone Manor. "But we have 50 students who come through our doors on a weekly basis. And a significant number of those students require some additional financial assistance or scholarships to be able to afford services with us. And so the money and the funds that we raised this evening are going to support the ongoing efforts that we have and our services."
The center gave out prizes including tickets to Hersheypark and a Phillies game at the fundraiser among many others.
Fleck says the goal of the fundraiser is to widen the reach of the center and its services.
"We're here for our students," Fleck said. "A lot of them wouldn't have access to a service like this if it wasn't for our organization. And so whatever we can do to support them, that's what we're here for."
The center is set to raise more than $10,000 from the fundraiser, which was sold out.
