Lancaster County experienced its 3rd explosion in 1 year on Monday

Pennsylvania State Police emphasized these explosions are still very rare.

BIRD IN HAND, Pa. — The community is still reeling after the propane explosion that leveled the main office building of the Bird-In-Hand Family Inn.

Monday marked the third explosion in Lancaster County in the past year.

FOX43 spoke to a trooper with Pennsylvania State Police who said they never seen anything like this in their career.

But they emphasized these explosion are still very rare.

Most recently in September, a home in Donegal Township exploded, killing homeowner Harvey Winters.

What caused the explosion is still unknown.

Back in July, the Rapho Township Public Works Building was leveled by a propane explosion.

And on Monday, the Bird-In-Hand Family Inn main office building was destroyed by another propane explosion.

The cause is still to be determined.

But now, the Lancaster County community wants to pick up the pieces and rebuild.

"Everyone in Bird-In-Hand usually comes together as a community and, as you can see, helps out, rebuilds and everything like that," said Sasha Uttley, a Bird-In-Hand resident. "I just hope nothing like this ever happens again."

It's estimated the explosion and fire at the inn caused at least $1 million worth of damage.

The identity of the person who was killed is still unknown.
