LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A Lancaster County woman is facing several charges after she was involved in a car crash that killed one person.

According to the Manheim Township Police Department, Gleny Asencio De Valdez, 47, from Lancaster, has been charged with accidents- death or personal injury and three traffic violations following a crash on Sept. 28, 2023.

An investigation determined that Asencio De Valdez turned left in front of the victim, causing her to strike their vehicle. The driver was severely injured and transported to a hospital.

On Oct. 14, 2024, the victim died from their injuries.

According to police, Asencio De Valdez didn't have a valid driver's license- only a learner's permit- at the time of the crash. Additionally, no one was in the car with her, which is required by the vehicle code for permit holders.

A reconstruction of the crash was conducted, tests were done on the traffic signals and video footage of the crash was obtained from a nearby security camera. The camera captured the traffic signal was green for the victim.

Tests reportedly found that the traffic signal was functioning properly, meaning that when the victim had a green light, Asencio De Valdez would not have had a green left turn arrow, as she alleged she had.

It was also determined the victim was not speeding, according to police, meaning Asencio De Valdez turned left in front of the victim, causing the crash and the victim's death.

A criminal complaint was filed on Oct. 17. Asencio De Valdez was arraigned and released on unsecured bail.
