LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Trex Proffitt has received a celebrity endorsement in his running for Pennsylvania Senate.
Emmy-winning actress Cynthia Nixon, best known for her role as Miranda Hobbes on HBO's Sex and the City, made a video showing support for Proffitt, saying that a vote for him means "a vote for Harris-Walz at the top of the ticket."
Proffitt is running for Senate in Pa.'s 13th District, which consists of Lancaster and Berks Counties. A Lancaster resident for nearly 20 years, Proffitt aims to protect and further LGBTQ+ and reproductive rights.
"Most importantly, he is fighting for the rights of trans youths in his community," Nixon said in her video endorsement.
Nixon goes on to say that Proffitt will help reduce bigotry and discrimination in local schools, overall increasing "freedom and respect for all."
Other endorsements for Proffitt include Representative Ismail Smith-Wade-El, former SD-13 candidates Janet Diaz, Greg Paulson and Tom O'Brien and Pa. Attorney General candidate Eugene DePasquale.
