One dead, one injured in overnight fire in Lancaster County

The coroner was called to a deadly fire in the 200 block of Rosedale Avenue, Lancaster Township overnight, according to Lancaster County 911 Dispatch.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — One person was killed and another seriously injured in an overnight fire in Lancaster Township, authorities said Tuesday.

First responders were called to the 200 block of Rosedale Avenue, Lancaster Township around 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 12. The building where the fire broke out is attached to the Bausman Post Office.

The deceased has been identified as Nathaniel Holmes, 45, of Lancaster. The victim who sustained serious injuries has not been identified, but authorities said she is a young girl. She was transported to the Lehigh Valley Regional Burn Center for treatment.

The fire originated in the second floor in the rear of the building, according to Lancaster Township Fire Chief Steven Roy. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Police Fire Marshal.

The building contained several apartments; one additional person was displaced, Roy said.

Firefighters did not hear any smoke alarms when they entered the building, he added.

The Bausman Post Office's mail will be delivered to the Millersville Post Office for residents with post office boxes at Bausman to pick up.

The total estimated damages are still being determined, Roy said, but the damage could exceed $250,000.
