Fire causes 'extensive damage' to Bird-In-Hand Family Restaurant

The Hand-in-Hand Fire Company chief says the fire caused "extensive damage" to the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant, but no one was injured or killed.

BIRD IN HAND, Pa. — Less than two months after an explosion blasted through the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn, a fire has marred the neighboring restaurant.

The Hand-in-Hand Fire Company chief says the fire caused "extensive damage" to the Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant, but no one was injured or killed.

Firefighters were called to the scene in the 2700 block of Old Philadelphia Pike around 10:49 p.m. on Jan. 30, according to Lancaster County 911 Dispatch. The fire was raised to two alarms, and the fire chief says it took crews about half an hour to get the flames under control.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the fire.

According to staff, the restaurant is expected to be closed for "more than a day."

This is a developing story. FOX43 has a crew on the way to the scene and will provide more information as it becomes available.
