LANCASTER, Pa. — A Lancaster City teenager pleaded guilty this week to firing a gun into a home in the city last year.

Jevon Quatee Taylor, 17, recorded the incident on video, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.

He pleaded guilty Monday to aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of a firearm by a minor, six counts of recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief and was sentenced by Judge Dennis Reinaker to one year minus a day to two years minus a day in county prison as well as four years of probation.

Reinaker immediately paroled Taylor due to him having already spent more than 10 months in custody awaiting resolution to the case, prosecutors said.

Taylor will spend the next 14 months on parole followed by the four years of probation sentenced by Reinaker.

Speaking to the court prior to his sentencing, Taylor said he wanted to focus on graduating high school and being a father. But Reinaker warned Taylor this his test will be to avoid falling into the same bad habits and patterns that brought him to court in the first place.

Reinaker challenged Taylor to do better and to not wind up in court again.

The then-16-year-old Taylor fired a gun through the first-floor window of a home in the 300 block of East Ross Street shortly after 11 p.m. on Aug. 7, 2023. No one was harmed in the shooting, but the home was occupied at the time by two adults and four children.

The projectile broke a window and was ultimately lodged into a couch in the residence’s living room, causing about $500 in damage.

The incident was recorded by Taylor, who was on a FaceTime phone call when he fired the shot.

Police were able to identify Taylor when the video was given to police.

Additional video from the home’s surveillance system showed Taylor brandishing a firearm from his left pocket and firing a single round toward the residence.

Officers found a single spent 9mm shell casing outside the home.

Taylor was a minor at the time of the incident and did not have a valid concealed carry permit.
