MARIETTA, Pa. — A Lancaster County man has been charged with assaulting two people while two juveniles -- including his 16-year-old son -- looked on.

Joseph Michael Williams, 37, of Marietta, is charged with two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, two misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors, and summary counts of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness in connection to the incident, which occurred at about 6:42 p.m. on the night of October 5, according to Susquehanna Regional Police.

The victims reported they were walking down the first block of Wild Cherry Lane when a green pickup truck approached, stopping in the middle of the street next to them.

Williams, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, allegedly began yelling at the victims before exiting the vehicle and attacking them. He allegedly punch a male victim numerous times in the head, face, and body, causing him to fall to the ground.

He then struck a female victim in the face when she attempted to intervene, according to police.

Investigators learned there were two juveniles in the vehicle with Williams during the attack, one of whom was later identified as Williams' 16-year-old son.

Williams allegedly told his son and his 17-year-old friend to drive him down the street to confront the victims over an incident that occurred two years before, according to police.

Williams was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack, according to the arresting officer.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for November 18, according to court records.
