Lancaster County man accused of damaging neighbor's ceiling, window after accidentally discharging handgun

LANCASTER, Pa. — Police have charged a Lancaster County man with reckless endangerment and other charges after police say he accidentally fired a handgun through his floor while cleaning it.

Jude Emanuel Halvorsen, 21, of Landisville, was charged after his neighbors called a contractor to repair a broken window in their Foundry Drive home, and the repair crew noticed a bullet hole in the ceiling above the window, according to Manheim Township Police.

Investigators interviewed Halvorsen, who admitted he accidentally discharged his handgun while cleaning it, police said.

In addition to recklessly endangering another person, Halvorsen is charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied structure and criminal mischief, according to police.

He turned himself into authorities on Monday and was arraigned. Bail was set at $5,000.
