Lancaster County Career and Technology Center closed again 1 day after receiving social media threat

Officials say the Lancaster County Career and Technology Center is closed today "out of an abundance of caution" after receiving threats on social media yesterday.

LANCASTER, Pa. — The Lancaster County Career and Technology Center is closed today, according to a post on the school's Facebook and website.

The closure comes one day after students were dismissed early due to social media threats on Sept. 19. Law enforcement ultimately deemed that the threat was not credible.

School officials say they decided to close the campus today "out of an abundance of caution" as they continue to work with county school districts and law enforcement departments to investigate reports of threats posted on social media.

The school sent the following message to staff and families last night:

Safety is our paramount concern.  Tonight, additional social media reports of threats are being investigated by law enforcement. Due to this uncertainty, we will be CLOSED Friday 9/20/24 for both our high school and adult programming.

Please plan on returning Monday 9/23/24. Please check the LCCTC website, lancasterctc.edu, often, about information for available support services for students during the day Friday, September 20, 2024.

Thank you for your understanding.
