EPHRATA, Pa. — The 77-year-old Ephrata man found dead after his vehicle crashed into Cocalico Creek last week died of a medical event before the crash, Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni said Monday.

Marlin Fausnacht, of Pointview Drive, died of natural causes and not trauma caused by the crash, which occurred at about 5:33 a.m. on December 12 on Old Mill Road in the borough.

Investigators say the vehicle crossed State Street and drove through a stop sign and a yard before crashing into the creek.

Fausnacht was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:18 a.m.

An autopsy determined that Fausnacht suffered from Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease and had a medical event prior to the crash.

Diamantoni ruled that Fausnacht's cause and manner of death were natural.
