LANCASTER, Pa. — A Lancaster County man pleaded guilty this week to recording himself having sexual encounters with dogs.
Uriah Groff, 23, of Quarryville, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to aggravated cruelty to animals -- torture, cruelty to animals, and sexual intercourse with an animal at a hearing before Lancaster County Judge Merrill Spahn, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.
State Police charged Groff last year when they discovered the video files while searching his phone for a different, unrelated matter. Investigators had already used a search warrant to seize his phone, police said.
Law enforcement officers subsequently served another search warrant on Groff's property on July 26, 2023. State Police knew that the GPS coordinates found in the videos' data corresponded with where the dogs and Groff lived due to a previous encounter with him, investigators said at the time.
During the search, troopers seized multiple dogs from Groff's property and gave them to the PSPCA to receive veterinary examinations.
Groff will be sentenced at a later date, according to prosecutors.
