LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Lancaster County crews spanning multiple agencies worked together to free a man stuck in a crevice Saturday evening.

According to a Facebook post from Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company, crews were called to the Clark Nature Preserve along Bridge Valley Road in Martic Township at 6:12 p.m. for a reported environmental rescue.

Initial information from county dispatch reported that there was a male who had become wedged in a crevice deep inside the Wind Cave, which prompted crews to start a rescue unit.

After several attempts were made to free the man, crews determined that additional resources were necessary.

Lancaster County Rescue Task Force #36, which is a specialized technical rescue team comprised of units from various agencies, was then requested to assist with the rescue.

Reportedly, crews from all agencies had to work as a team through dark, narrow, slippery conditions with limited space, communications and resources to chisel away enough rock to free the man and hoist him from the crevice.

"Great job by everyone involved in the rescue," Rawlinsville Volunteer Fire Company said in their post. "We value our relationships with our mutual aid agencies who assist and allow us to provide top-notch service to our community."

Crews were on the scene for over five hours.
