LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Lancaster Country Day School Board of Trustees recently announced that they are parting ways with the Head of School and its Board President amidst the recent lawsuit from parents of the students who were affected by the AI-generated child pornography scandal.
The Board of Trustees is now speaking out about the decision.
"Over the course of the past week, the Board was made aware of information that led us to believe this matter. As such, the board has made decisions that we believe are in the best interests of the girls who have been impacted and in the best interest of the school long term," members of the Board wrote in a statement.
They expressed gratitude to the families of the victims and to faculty members for their dedication to the students.
Classes were canceled on Monday, Nov. 18, but the school will resume Tuesday, Nov. 19.
"When we resume classes tomorrow [faculty and staff] will be working to ensure that day-to-day learning continues and they will remain focused on the student experience."
The Board also outlined immediate priorities moving forward, they are as follows:
- To identify an Acting Head of School & New Board President
- These efforts are underway and we hope to have more information to share soon.
- To support our faculty and senior school leaders as needed until we have an Acting Head in place. We have already designated a trustee to be the point person for that effort.
- To ensure that any student who has been impacted by this situation who would like assistance has the support they need.
- We encourage you to connect with your child’s division counselor.
- To review and strengthen our reporting procedures, our safety protocols and our processes for investigating incidents of misconduct. We will be sharing more information about this work with you in the coming weeks.
