Lancaster County residents scammed out of $74,000

The victims were reportedly convinced to deposit $30,000 into a Bitcoin machine and an additional $44,000 was retrieved by an individual at the victims' home.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Two Lancaster County residents were reportedly scammed out of $74,000. 

According to Pennsylvania State Police, on May 23 at 2:52 p.m., troopers responded to the 1000 block of Prawls Hollow Road in Drumore Township for the report of a theft. 

Through an investigation, it was determined that the victims were scammed out of $74,000 in total. The victims told police that a warning message popped up on their computer screen to contact Apple Security immediately. 

Ultimately, the victims were convinced to deposit $30,000 into a Bitcoin machine and $44,000 was retrieved by an individual at the home of the victims. 

State Police are investigating.
