Lancaster man arrested for reportedly starting house fire

Two occupants were reportedly inside at the time of the fire but were uninjured.

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A Lancaster County man is facing criminal mischief and reckless endangerment charges after allegedly starting a house fire. 

According to the Susquehanna Regional Police Department, on Feb, 4 at 3:30 p.m., officers responded to an East Donegal Township residence for a reported structure fire. 

The first officer at the scene reported that the inside of the home was completely engulfed in flames and smoke and that a man was lying on the ground next to the home. 

The man, identified as Zachary Landis, 36, allegedly admitted to starting the fire. He was reportedly suffering from severe burns. 

The building is divided into two separate residences. Two occupants were reportedly inside at the time of the fire but were uninjured. 

Landis was transported to the hospital for treatment and was later arrested on several related arson charges amongst other criminal charges.
