LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — A Lancaster County man wanted in Oregon for an attempted murder charge has been arrested.
According to the Susquehanna Regional Police Department, George James Ditzler III from the 600 block of Essex Street in Marietta Borough was wanted in the state of Oregon for attempted murder with a firearm.
The Susquehanna Regional Police Department had been coordinating with authorities in Washington County, Oregon when on Dec. 22, officers received information that Ditzler may be at an address in Lancaster City.
Officers were able to contact Ditzler's family, who confirmed he was inside the residence. After 25 minutes of conversation on the phone, Ditzler exited the home and surrendered to police without incident.
A warrant through Washington County was confirmed and Ditzler was transported to the Lancaster City Bureau Police station. A criminal complaint for arrest prior to requisition will be filed against Ditzler, according to police.
Authorities in Oregon will coordinate with the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office to arrange extradition back to the state Ditzler is wanted in.
