Golf fans can compete for tickets to the U.S. Women's Open, other prizes at the Lancaster County Convention Center's Putting Contest

Golfers can try to putt for prizes in the Convention Center's Freedom Hall. The Harton S. Semple Trophy, awarded to the Open's victor, will also be displayed.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Ahead of the U.S. Women's Open, which will be held next week at Lancaster Country Club, golf fans will have a chance to compete for prizes in a Putting Contest at the Lancaster County Convention Center, organizers said Wednesday.

The event will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Convention Center's Freedom Hall, located at 25 South Queen Street in Lancaster.

The Harton S. Semple Trophy, which has been awarded to the winner of the U.S. Women's Open since 1953, will also be on display at the event, which is free to the public.

Those who choose to compete in the Putting Contest will have the chance to sink a long putt and win prizes like a one-night stay at the Lancaster Marriott, $100 gift cards to Plough (the lounge bar at the Lancaster Marriott) or The Exchange (a nearby rooftop bar located on the first block of East King Street), and two tickets to attend the U.S. Women's Open, which will be held from May 28 to June 2 at the Lancaster Country Club.

Putting Contest participants must by at least 18 years of age, organizers said.
