Man's hand shot while asleep, Lancaster Police investigating

LANCASTER, Pa. — Police in Lancaster County are investigating a shooting that injured one man while he was asleep just after midnight on Saturday.

According to the Lancaster City Bureau of Police, at around 2:30 a.m. officers responded to shooting reports on the 300 block of South Anne Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim who had been shot in his hand. The victim told police that he was in his bedroom asleep when a bullet traveled through his window and struck him in the hand.

Officers collected multiple shell casings and bullet fragments in the nearby area; they also observed damage to several homes on the block, which is believed to have been caused by the gunfire.

Residents were notified of the incident, and no other injuries were reported.

The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police state that this is an active investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact the station at 717-735-3300.
