ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — A former paraprofessional employee with the Elizabethtown School District admitted to having inappropriate sexual relationships with two middle school boys while working for the district in the spring of 2023.

Megan Carlisle, 38, pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of indecent sexual assault, two counts of statutory sexual assault, four counts of unlawful contact with a minor, four counts of corruption of minors, two counts of disseminating sexually explicit materials to a minor, and two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.

Carlisle also pleaded no contest to two counts of institutional sexual assault, disputing that any of the sexual assaults occurred in a classroom, according to prosecutors. A no-contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is nonetheless considered a conviction.

By pleading no contest, Carlisle acknowledged that the prosecution had sufficient evidence to convince a jury to convict if the charges had gone to trial.

According to the Northwest Regional Police Department, which filed charges against Carlisle in May and June of 2023, the victims were 15 and 14 years old when the sexual assaults occurred.

The victims told police Carlisle bought them gifts, performed sex acts on them, and told them they could not tell anyone about them, police said.

Police began investigating when one of the victims showed an explicit message sent to them by Carlisle, and the friend contacted authorities.

The Elizabethtown School District placed Carlisle on administrative leave on May 5, 2023, when the allegations against her sexual assault of the 15-year-old victim became public, and fired her when the charges were filed on May 26.

Carlisle was then charged with additional offenses when the 14-year-old victim came forward in June 2023.

Prosecutors said Carlisle will be sentenced after a presentence investigation has been completed, a process that takes roughly three months.

Carlisle is currently being held in Lancaster County Prison.
