LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Update, 4:20 p.m.: Arlene Pacheco Figueroa, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to State Police. A 16-year-old passenger riding in her vehicle was trapped in the wreckage and needed to be extracted. He remains in critical condition at Lancaster General Hospital.
An investigation determined Figueroa's Nissan Pathfinder was struck by a tractor trailer driven by 53-year-old David Anthony, whose vehicle was traveling south on Route 41 when it approached the intersection with Pine Creek Drive, where Figueroa's vehicle was stopped at a red light.
Investigators say that because of sun glare, Anthony did not realize the traffic light was red and proceeded through the intersection, striking Figueroa's vehicle.
Update, 11:11 a.m.: A FOX43 crew at the scene reports that the roads in the area of the crash are reopened and traffic is flowing.
