Lancaster County woman injured in stabbing; suspect in custody

The incident caused East Petersburg Elementary School to be placed in precautionary lockdown, police said. The suspect is in custody.

EAST PETERSBURG, Pa. — Update, 1 p.m. (Feb. 7): Brendan Morales, 35, has been charged with aggravated assault and criminal mischief in the case, according to Northern Lancaster County Regional Police.

Morales was allegedly involved in an argument with the victim, who confronted him after he threw rocks at her vehicle in a driveway at the crime scene, police said. He fled the scene after stabbing the victim, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Police captured Morales shortly after the incident.

Police are investigating an alleged stabbing that left a woman injured Tuesday morning in Lancaster County.

It occurred during a reported domestic incident at 9:03 a.m. on the 2300 block of Lawnwood Court in East Petersburg, according to Northern Lancaster County Regional Police.

Other reports indicated there were shots fired in the area that were believed to have been related to the incident, which led police to close roadways in the area as part of the investigation, police said. Residents were also asked to shelter in place, and East Petersburg Elementary School was temporarily put in lockdown as a precaution, police said.

The victim, a 42-year-old woman, was found at the home suffering from injuries consistent with a stabbing, according to police.

The suspect, a 36-year-old man whose identity has not yet been released by investigators, fled on foot before police arrived. He was later found, identified and captured without incident, according to police.

Police said their investigation later determined there were no firearms or gunshots associated with the incident.
