LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — State Police are investigating a fatal crash that closed a portion of the Pennsylvania Turnpike on Saturday.
The crash occurred at mile marker 268.4 in Penn Township, Lancaster County at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. An emergency detour was put into place by PennDOT at 12:35 p.m., alerting all Westbound travelers that they must exit at Reading Exit 286.
A spokesperson with the Pa. Turnpike confirmed that one person died as a result of the crash.
Westbound lanes remained closed until approximately 5:45 p.m. Police are still investigating the circumstances of the crash, and the victim's identity is not yet publicly known.
