LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — The Pennsylvania SPCA will be hosting a special event for pit bulls across all of the rescue's locations.
The PSPCA is hosting "Pittiefest," where all classic pit bulls will have their adoption fees set at $5 starting Tuesday, July 16.
The promotion runs through Sunday, Aug. 11 at the PSPCA's Philadelphia Headquarters, Danville, Lancaster and the organization's Main Line Animal Rescue site.
The event adds a fun twist with a chance for adopters and the public to learn all about pitties. The organization will share important facts and common misconceptions about the dogs. For example, pit bulls are not a breed, but rather a generic term used to describe dogs with similar traits and characteristics.
Throughout the campaign, adopters are invited to visit the four sites during open hours to meet adoptable dogs. Pit bulls come in different sizes, including shorti and classic, but all pitties for this promotion will have $5 adoption fees.
“We hope that PSPCA’s Pittiefest will become an annual summer tradition, celebrating the majestic animals that are commonly referred to as pitties. This promotion is a time to find homes for these deserving animals, and celebrate everything about them, while simultaneously busting myths,” said Gillian Kocher the director of public relations at the Pennsylvania SPCA.
All normal adoption policies and procedures will be in effect during Pittiefest.
