LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Police are aware of and investigating circulating threats against the Lampeter-Strasburg School District.
According to the West Lampeter Police Department, the threats were made on TikTok and began circulating on Thursday evening.
Officers were able to identify and locate the juvenile suspect responsible for the latest threat posted to TikTok. It was determined to be a prank and not a credible threat. Officers also verified that the suspect does not have immediate access to weapons.
Investigators say they contacted TikTok, which was able to provide "valuable information" to assist in the investigation. Comcast also provided police with an exact location of the origin of the post.
The name of the suspect will not be released due to them being a juvenile, but they will be charged, the WLPD said.
"The West Lampeter Police would like add that this type of behavior will not be tolerated," officers said in a press release. "The suspect will be held accountable for their actions and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
The threats come not even 24 hours after The Lancaster County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC) closed and dismissed students early after receiving a threat on social media.
According to West Lampeter Township Police, the incident was prompted by a "vague threat" that had been circulating on social media sites for the past several weeks.
