Police: Lancaster woman swipes classic Porsche as it's being delivered to buyer

LANCASTER, Pa. — Police in Lancaster County have charged a woman accused of stealing a classic Porsche that was being delivered to someone else.

Carlin D. Paravati, 41, of Lancaster, is charged with theft by unlawful taking and several summary traffic violations in connection to the alleged incident, which occurred Wednesday afternoon on the 2800 block of Harrisburg Pike, according to East Hempfield Township Police.

Authorities say the car, a 1988 Porsche 911 worth an estimated $145,000, was being delivered to its buyer when Paravati, who was passing by, jumped into the vehicle and drove off.

She was caught by pursuing police at the intersection of Harrisburg Pike and State Road.

Paravati was transported to Lancaster County Prison to await arraignment, police said.
