3-vehicle crash on Route 30 leaves 1 dead

The coroner and Manheim Township police were on the scene of a multi-vehicle crash that left all lanes closed on Route 30 Eastbound.

LANCASTER, Pa. — Update, June 5, 11:45 a.m.: One person died in the crash, according to Sgt. Barry Waltz. The Lancaster County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Thomas Hartenstine, 22, of Lancaster.

Officials say Hartenstine, the driver of the Suzuki, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say witness statements indicated the Suzuki struck the Subaru Outback and pushed that vehicle into the Subaru WRX. 

The driver of the WRX was not injured, officers said. Two occupants of the Outback were taken to the hospital for minor injuries and released.

Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni determined Hartenstine died of multiple traumatic injuries and ruled the manner of death accidental.

Update, June 5, 3:54 a.m.: Lancaster County 911 Dispatch confirmed that the coroner was called to the Route 30 crash.

Previously: Officers with the Manheim Township Police Department are currently at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on Route 30 eastbound at the Harrisburg Pike exit in Lancaster County.

Lancaster County 911 Dispatch confirmed that the crash involved three vehicles: a Subaru WRX, Subaru Outback and a Suzuki GSX-R1000.

Sgt. Barry Waltz stated that Rt. 30 will be closed for a significant period of time, and there is no word yet on the status of anyone involved.
