LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. — Lancaster County authorities are warning residents of a recent scammer targeting them.
The Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department issued a statement on Monday, Nov. 25. In it, police explained that a Warwick Township resident received a call from a scammer who used the real name of a township staff member and claimed to be from the "tax center."
The LCWC stated that the number the scammer used was not affiliated with the department. The department also said it received reports of a similar incident happening the previous week, where a scammer told residents that they had to pay fines for missing jury duty.
The department urges anyone who receives a call of this nature to report it to LCWC non-emergency dispatch at (717) 664-1180.
