LANCASTER, Pa. — A Lancaster man will serve up to 16 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges that he engaged in a sexual relationship with a minor that was under his care.
Daymarr Jackson, 29, of the 500 block of South Lime St., pleaded guilty in April to three counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with person less than 16, unlawful contact with a minor, sexual contact with a minor, three counts of sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children and other related charges, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.
He was sentenced last Wednesday to a prison term of 8-16 years by Lancaster County Judge Dennis Reinaker, prosecutors said.
During the sentencing proceeding, Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick distinguished the case from a typical statutory sexual assault case due to Jackson's status as the victim's caretaker.
Haverstick additionally pointed out the victim detailed in a diary how the defendant initially pursued them and how they tried to end the encounters, but the defendant would tell her how much he loved and wanted them.
On July 4, 2023, the Lancaster City Bureau of Police responded to Jackson's home for the report of a sex offense. Digital images were found of the defendant engaged in sexual acts with the victim, who subsequently participated in an interview at the Lancaster City Police Station.
During the interview, the victim disclosed the defendant engaged in sexual acts with them between the ages of 15-17 and the acts started in Leola and continued at the residence on S. Lime Street.
The defendant took photos and videos of himself and the victim engaged in sexual acts and requested sexually explicit material from the victim, police said.
Lancaster City Bureau of Police Detective Karson Arnold filed charges.
